I was born in Gibraltar on 25th
September 1966. Not having taken after my parents` love of classical music,
I was otherwise inspired by nature and from an early age, began to draw and
paint animals, mainly horses. Although I never grew up with horses my
passion for them developed further and I now dedicate most of my spare time
to doing horse portraits (as well as other pet portraits) . I
travel to Jerez quite a lot to find my "models", most being the Cartujano
horses at the Yeguada De La Cartuja in Medina Sedonia, Jerez. One of
my personal favourites is `Farruco` seen in one of my portraits below.
I still continue with my pet portraits, often taking
private commissions but my favourite subject will always be
horses!
One thing I did inherit from my parents
was an eye for detail and I have used this for the accuracy of my paintings,
especially my military paintings of uniformed soldiers. This is
another area in which I also specialize and which gained me a commission for
the 2005 Gibraltar Rock Calendar to commemorate the Battle of Trafalgar.
The calendar featured 12 paintings by local artists, depicting different
scenes before, during and after the famous battle. My painting
featured Nelson preserved in a barrel of brandy and Captain Hardy is seen
cutting a lock of his hair which , it was said, was then sent to Lady
Hamilton. The original painting was sold to a private collector in
Gibraltar.

Going back to my younger days, at the age
of 14 I started up a nature diary
where I collected leaves, flowers and insects and studied and illustrated
them. I kept the diary up for 3 years and now, 25 years later I have
published a limited edition of the diary, details of which you will find on
the Nature Diary page.
On 18th April 2005, after a lot of
preparation, I held my first watercolour art exhibition at the John
Mackintosh Hall, Gibraltar. The emphasis was on horse portraits although
there were some military paintings and Gibraltar scenes. My original
nature diary was also on display and a lot of interest was shown . In fact,
for a first exhibition the response was tremendous and I therefore decided
to put this website together to offer my painting services to the world!
I work in watercolour so for a Pet Portrait all I would need is a good
colour photo of your favourite pet to work from, be it your cat, dog or pet
snake! I also take commissions for military portraits so again, all I
would need is a good photo, preferably in colour especially to recreate the
colours of a uniform. Otherwise, I can produce a sketch if you prefer which
can also look very effective. For details on prices and how to go
about ordering a commission from me, simply go to the Prices and Orders
page.
Thank you for visiting my site and I hope you find something you like.
